With all the unrest in Iran and especially in Tehran, we are wondering if there are any Adventists in Tehran and if so, how are they doing? Please let us know.

How you can get on TV
First off, will you be in Oshkosh, WI this August for the International Pathfinder Camporee? If your answer is yes, then so far so good! That's where you will want to be if you want to get on national (if not international) television! Here's how to go about it:
Step 1: During your time at the Courage to Stand Camporee, look for the "Talent Tent." It's a place where you can perform your God-given musical talents. There will be a grand prize for the talent contestants.
Step 2: Be one of the top finalists. The top finalist for each day (Tuesday-Saturday) will be offered a chance to be on a musical program on TV.

CTS Camporee Update (May)
Here are few of the updates for the "Courage to Stand" International Pathfinder Camporee coming up on August 11-15, 2009.
The nightly program:
"The nightly Bible story presentation has over 100 actors/extras, hundreds of costumes, and 22 new Bible story songs!" But...
...a Mordecai actor is still needed. They're looking for one male actor 50+ years old that can help portray the character of Mordecai. For details on how to audition, click here.
Tickets
As you may have heard, the CTS Camporee sold out four months in advance of the event. No other Adventist event has ever sold out as quickly. No need to fear though...
...the only tickets that are still available are volunteer tickets or day passes. So get yours ASAP! To get volunteer tickets, you've got to volunteer for a minimum of 5 hours a day and be over 18 years old. Here's the application form.
Other
The people running the camporee also need another kind of volunteer to make this year's event be great. They are still in need of 275 TLT's who can serve 5 hours a day. How to apply.
Nathan Greene will be unveiling a special Esther painting live on stage during the nighttime program. This painting and posters of the painting will be on sale at the Camporee. Nathan Greene is a famous painter; even if you've never heard of him, there's a good chance you've seen his paintings.
There are more camporee updates listed in this month's camporee newsletter. Go check it out. You can also follow us on Twitter (@asabbathblog) for more Christian youth news and other stuff!

CANCELED: Greater New York Conference Pathfinder Camporee due to Swine Flu
This year's Greater New York Conference Pathfinder Camporee has been cancelled due to an increase of confirmed swine flu cases and flu-like symptoms in the New York metropolitan area. The camporee was supposed to start this Friday and continue through Memorial Day weekend. Somewhere between 1,300-1,500 Pathfinders and Master Guides were expected to attend, so you can imagine what the scenario may have looked like had there been a case of swine flu on site!
For more details about the cancellation, click here. Pathfinder clubs: For an update about refunds available, click here.
Pathfinders is a coed youth organization sponsored by the Seventh-day Adventist Church with local clubs around the world. At camporees, Pathfinder clubs belonging to a certain region get together to camp out and do several different events and activities.

Earth-Touch Nature Videos
We've all been there: Sitting (slouchy, actually)... bored on Sabbath... watching a nature video... from like 20 years ago. Nothing wrong with nature videos, but some can really put you to sleep!
Instead, let's say that you have a friend who is on an African safari and is armed with a video camera. Just imagine that this friend of yours emails you videos of the animals he's watching as it happens! To me, it's so much more interesting to see what an animal did just a couple days ago, instead of couple years ago. I don't know about you, but it makes it a lot more real to me.
Earth-Touch is a documentary company that has come up with a quick way to film wild animals in a remote area and show it to the world within 48 hours (whenever possible). It's actually kinda cool 'cause they film all these animals, from lions to seals to caterpillars in high definition so that quality-wise, it looks really good! Earth-Touch edits their videos lightly so that you're basically seeing what the cameraman saw through his camera lens just a few days ago!
The film crews that are with these animals don't script their videos (which aren't long), and post field reports just about everyday on the Earth-Touch website. The website gets updated very often, so there's a pretty good chance they'll have something new for you to watch each Saturday! No more slouching for you! ;)

Courage to Stand Camporee theme song contest winner
The winning entry for the camporee theme song contest is "Entry 1." The entry, actually titled "Courage to Stand" is written by Emily Beth Bond. Sounds familiar? You may remember seeing/hearing her at the 2004 Faith on Fire Camporee, in which her family and the Brueske family wrote that camporee's theme song.
