Missing Adventist missionary found dead in Guatemala

The body of Brian Townsend, a missing Seventh-day Adventist missionary, has been found in Guatemala, according to The Toronto Star.

Townsend, 64, had been missing in Belize since Christmas Eve, according to the newspaper.

Townsend's neighbor and cook said she saw Townsend's truck heading out of town with a "mattress and a rolled-up rug," according to an article by Adventist Review. The cook said she discovered Townsend's truck was missing and his apartment looted the following morning.

Two machetes and blood were found about fifty feet from Townsend's home, reported Adventist Review.

The 25 Best Adventist memes of 2012

Memes. Oh, memes...

2012 definitely flooded our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram feeds with those pictures.

In case you you don't know what a meme is (we won't judge you), a meme is "an idea, behavior, style, or usage that spreads from person to person within a culture," according to the dictionary.

Well, soon people started creating memes about Seventh-day Adventist culture in North America.

These memes —part humor, part commentary, and part self-reflection— gave us a chance to look at ourselves and laugh.

And while you may be as tired of memes (as we are), we thought we'd take one last look at some of our favorite Adventist memes of 2012 (give or take a few days).

So here are our favorites, in no particular order. Credit for each meme can be found beneath each image. At the bottom of the post, vote for your favorite meme. Enjoy!

NAD creates new annual Bible trivia tournament for Pathfinders

The North American Division recently created a new system for Pathfinder Bible trivia tournaments. It's called The Pathfinder Bible Experience.

Currently, there are different types of Bible trivia programs being used by Pathfinder Clubs across the North American Division. The Pathfinder Bible Experience (PBE) was created to unify these different models and give "ownership to local leaders," according to a recent NAD Youth Dept. email.

Pathfinders will be studying the books of 1 Samuel and Mark for this year's tournament.

Here's a quick overview of how the program will work:
