ABC News features group of Adventists wanting to ban McDonald's in Loma Linda

A group of Seventh-day Adventists in Loma Linda, Calif. are fighting to prevent McDonald's from setting up shop in their city.

ABC News aired a report about it during Nightline on Friday, Jan. 13. We've included the video below.

The Adventist Church has not officially taken a stance on the controversy, but it does promote living a healthy lifestyle.

McDonald's is not the first fast food restaurant in Loma Linda. KFC, Del Taco, Baker's Burger, Carl's Jr. and Weinerschnitzel can all be found in Loma Linda, according to ABC News.

With a large medical university and a national veggie meat brand both bearing the city's name, Loma Linda has become synonymous with healthy living to many.

In 2008, National Geographic listed Loma Linda as one of the few places in the world where its residents seem to live years longer than the surrounding population.
